Description

Limestone is a white sedimentary rock derived from calcium carbonate. It is formed by the influence of the wind, which makes calcareous fragments of shells and quartz sand, which accumulated as coastal sand dunes during the Middle and Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene. After a process of sedimentation and entry of water through the sands of the shell, the result is lithified, and the lime content is dissolved to cement and unite the grains. There are different types of limestone - plain, shell and chalk. Ordinary limestone is used as a building material. It is a common choice in construction.
